Pura Vida in Costa Rica

About this blog

My wife and I have planned a trip to Costa Rica. We hope to see many wonderful things in this country. We've ordered a book on amazon to do some research plus we've searched internet sites to find places to stay. For places to stay, we have found them on expedia and vrbo.

It's funny.. our trip starts with the planning stage and what country to visit. At first we weren't sure where to plan this trip and then Joanne said - "Why not Costa Rica? You wanted to go there." Of course, I said "yes" to this suggestion.

It's only Oct. 2, 2013 but I thought I'd start this blog early.

Wow!!! We haven't been in Costa Rica for that long but we absolutely love it here. It is currently Feb. 12 - less than an hour and it will be Feb. 13 though.

Joanne and I did get a chance to "sample" Costa Rica on one of our port stop with Norwegian Cruise Lines. We "sampled" the country after all ready booking our stay in this country. We were happy that we enjoyed our stop with the cruise ship and were therefore looking forward to exploring more of the country.

Joanne and I love cruises.. but we also like exploring a place more than a cruise can allow. Of course, the cruise's purpose is to be the "appetizer" to see if we want more of the "main course" - i.e. want to return to the country to see more.

Costa Rica.. Here we come.. so much to see... and this time, we have plenty of time to see quite a bit... Pura Vida.. !!!! :)

It is now Feb. 20 and we are still in Costa Rica. :)

So far, we've left our first cottage rental near Sardinal and stayed at one hotel in Jaco. We are now at our second cottage rental near Uvita. Our stay in Costa Rica so far has been just lovely.

Costa Rica continues to amaze us with its beauty. Pura Vida!

Today, it is March 3, 2014 and we are drawing near to the end of our trip in Costa Rica. We are currently at our last cottage in Playa Chiquita. It is the Caribbean side of Costa Rica so there are many beautiful beaches in this area. The people are mainly free spirited in this area so we fit in quite nicely. There are quite a few yoga studios and restaurants in this area. It's a nice relaxing area... :)

It is currently March 5, 2014 and we are currently at our last hotel in Alajuela - Holiday Inn Express. Tomorrow, we fly out of Costa Rica and head to the airport in Syracuse with a pit stop in Charlotte, NC.

The term Pura Vida is commonly used in Costa Rica. What does it mean? Well, according to a web site I found, it means "that no matter what your current situation is, life for someone else can always be less fortunate than your own. So you need to consider that maybe...just maybe, your situation isn't all that bad and that no matter how little or how much you have in life, we are all here together and life is short...so start living it "pura vida style"." I think this is an absolute great way to live your life.. and it is what I am going to start to do from now on.... :) Living life for the moment. Actually, I've been doing just this for around five years - since I met Joanne. :) Just take a look at my travels and they really start to flourish once I met her... :)

It is currently March 7, 2014 and I am typing this blog from the comfort of my couch.

Our trip to Costa Rica was wonderful over all. Would we return? Absolutely! Would we go back right away? No... ...and not because we did not like Costa Rica... Just for the fact that there are so many other places in the world that we want to visit first.

  • Goodbye Brockville
  • Back Home.. Safe and Sound...
