Travel notes from an itinerant baby boomer
About this blog
After three years of a fairly soporific existence, I discovered Ryan Air low-cost flights and was immediately smitten by the travel bug again. I used to travel overseas on business every year but because I was tied to an office my travel was limited. But as a freelance journalist, I had all the necessary tools to theoretically work anywhere in the world - a laptop, wi-fi internet connection and a mobile phone. I put the theory to the test and found it worked. I was able to link up to the 'net, research, conduct interviews on Skype, file copy and get paid at some amazing places such as the uttermost islands at the edge of the North Sea or from a window sill overlooking a narrow, cobblestone street in the medieval part of Alghero, Sardinia
