Global Justice Volunteer in Hong Kong
About this blog
Last summer, I, along with 8 other young adults, were Global Justice Volunteers in 4 different countries including Hong Kong, Brazil, Nicaragua, and Grenada. We partnered with and along side locals in seeking justice, and this provided us an opportunity to link our faith with justice.
I went to Hong Kong with a teammate named Nedra for two and a half months. While in Hong Kong, I partnered with the Bethune House: Migrant Women's Refuge and the Mission for Migrant Workers which work with and empower women migrant workers from across Southeast Asia who face injustices such as low wages, no wages, long hours, and abuse. Practically, I participated in casework, counseling, advocacy, and education as well as just being a friend.
