Building Hope for Cangumbang

About this blog

My hope is that Cangumbang, the rural village where I spent so many countless hours building homes and playing with kids, can have a place to seek refuge from the devastating floods which reek havoc on their community multiple times each year. Cangumbang is filled with beautiful children and their families who optimistically bear each days hardships, yet each year the flood waters reach depths far over their rooftops. I saw the need with my own eyes and now there is no turning back. When you read this blog put yourself in the shoes of these Filipinos living so desperately at times. Try to imagine living without a bathroom, without electricity. Think about the difficulties you would have with no stove or microwave. We are so blessed to live with such luxuries, and we hardly know what necessities truly are anymore. When you read this blog see it as an opportunity to spread the word about a community who cannot reach out for help personally. An opportunity to graciously realize the amazing life you have been given. This blog is me reaching out asking you to contemplate, to reflect, and to recognize how much you can do for the people of Cangumbang.
