Spending a long weekend in the Yucatán checking out ancient Mayan ruins at Chichén Itzá, underground cenotes, and the pristine beach at Tulum.
About this blog
Once again for the 4th of July we celebrated our independence from America in Mexico. Darin, Claudia, Justin, Caroline, Wendy, and I left work early on Friday the 30th of June to drive to Houston to catch our flight.
The plan? Fly into Mérida, México which is on the NW side of the Yucatán. From there, we rent a minivan that holds 6 people, and drive across the penninsula - catching Chichén Itzá, the most famous mayan ruins, on the way - towards the beautiful white sand beaches on the Carrbiean Sea. Also, we wanted to visits some cenotes; which are caves that open up to underground rivers that ancient Mayans used for drinking water and for religious ceremonies. Anyway, check it out!
