Ready to Roll.....Again

About this blog

We bought a 1994 Coachmen Catalina 5th wheel (27') in 2007 and made our first trip to Alaska with no problems. The space was tight - no slides - so we referred to our little home as having a "one-butt kitchen". Returning, we made up our minds to get a larger rig, so in 2009 we bought a 1998 (33') National Seabreeze with 2 slides. With lots of room and storage, we made our 2nd trip to Alaska. Shortly after our return In the fall, we also took a two-month trip to Savannah, Georgia and surrounding areas but limped back home with a slide problem. Major repairs were needed. We had already determined that the Seabreeze was more RV than we needed and, fortunately, we found a buyer who knew the problem and wanted it anyway.

The past few months we've been without an RV and getting more antsy by the day to hit the road. Last night, we put a deposit on a "NEW" 2010 Denali 28RLBS and plan to be at the dealer's tomorrow to sign the paperwork to make it officially ours. It's not the RV of my dreams; I really wanted one with an electric fireplace but they are pretty scarce in south Texas, especially in smaller units. So, I exchanged my fireplace for central vac, microwave/convection oven, electric awning, and power stabilizers. We even managed to stall long enough to get the dealer to call back and include the slide toppers and a Fan-tastic roof fan in addition to changing the bench dinette to a stand-alone table & chairs. All in all, it's a very nice RV and I am sure we will enjoy the lighter, shorter unit. The Dodge Ram 2500 never complained about the load, but we are hoping for a little better fuel economy.

Where are we going for our first trip? We don't know; we haven't even discussed it.....but somewhere...and soon, so stay tuned for the adventures and travels of Wendell & Donna.
