Doris's Dear Diary
About this blog
Princess Ginger's Special Shoes After checking in at our hotel in Delhi on the first day, we went for a wander for a couple of hours through the market at the top of the street. It was bustling with people, bikes and cows - normal every day market stuff we see on Dronfield market. The stallholders were trying to tempt us with their wares, but strangely 90% of them made a beeline for Ginger. Curiously, it was her sandals that were causing all the interest. Now once or twice could have been a co-incidence, but this happened about 20 times and basically it seems that they were most unhappy that these sandals weren't, shall we say, in pristine condition, and understandably they wanted to rectify this by giving Ginger some new soles. As we know, Fred and Ginger are quite tall and probably stand a foot above the average Indian person, but they seemed to want to add to this height by giving Ginger platform soles that would give her an extra 6". Given that the street was heaving, these sole-sticker-onners were definitely on the ball to spot the pathetic footware in the first place - so credit where credit's due I say.. Funnily enough, while granted these sandals were no Jimmy Choos, the majority of the crowd were either in summat real shabby, or barefoot. Ginger went to great lengths to give explanations for liking her sandals just the way they were - I haven't seen em since. We've now been here four days and as we've wandered round in our group, Ginger always seems to be the one everyone seem to approach - we're thinking with her height and funny accent maybe they think she's some kind of exotic princess and needs to be reverred.
