About this blog

Welcome to the travel blog of the Mountain Nomad!

2008 - The Journey beginnings!!

I'll start in Kenya & Tanzania at the beginning of 2008, climb Kilimanjaro and go on Safari, then onto India, Kashmir and Nepal where I'll do some trekking in the Everest Region. Overland through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Then onto Hong Kong and Macau. A short stay in Seoul then a flight to Singapore which I'll use as a base to visit Borneo, Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia. Three months in Australia and New Zealand (The big hobo road trip!!!), then over the pacific via Fiji to LA where I fly back to the UK in December 2008 for Christmas. After my short stay at home, phase 2 in South America will commence in 2009 (If I last that long?).

2009 - An American odyssey, more adventures on another continent!!

I'll take no flights within south America this year, just overland forms of transport allowed. I suspect many hours will be spent on crappy buses and boats over the next 6 months!! In January I'll climb Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest mountain outside the Himalayas! Then to Uruguay, into Brazil for carnival in Salvador, upstream by boat on the Amazon to it's source in Peru, Bolivia and finally I'll return to Argentina to fly back to Europe in the summer. I'll spent a couple of months at home seeing family and friends across Europe. Then I'll start an epic 420km walk along the backbone of Britain in July along the Pennine way! I fly to San Francisco in August to begin another massive road trip across the States. More hobo travelling, sleeping in my car and washing in rivers just like my Australian adventure! I plan to drive through all the lower 48 states and do a bit of a national park tour. Should be fun and a big challenge!!! I'll spent the winter in Canada before heading back to south America in 2010.

2010 - South America again, the Middle East and more big Peaks!!!

I'll climb Aconcagua again at the beginning of 2010, but this time solo!! Then to the magical Patagonia in Argentina/Chile to spend some time in the great outdoors. Back to Bolivia to possibly walk across the salt flats (TBC!!). Peru to climb the beautiful volcanoes around Arequipa, through Ecuador to Colombia where I'll fly back to Europe, then to the Middle East. I'll finish with some serious climbing (More to follow)!!!!
