I have booked my trip through the lush Sierra Nevada from Santa Marta to Ciudad Perdida, which I will attempt to reach after some time in Cartagena, possibly seeing Taganga after the trek if time permits.

Paramilitaries, drug runners, coca farmers (and their secret drug labs), indigenous peoples, primeval jungle and raw adventure far from the beaten trail add to the allure of this 6-day, 40 km journey to an ancient city that wasn't discovered until 1975 by graverobbers thanks to untamed geography and the secrecy of the native tribes in the area...
