About this blog

We, Carlos & Anita are planning to do more or less 32 000 km during our trip. Setting off from home in Buffelspoort, our first stop will be in KZN , Salt Rock (Ballito) This is where we will greet the kids and grandkids and leave our dog Zulu at a kennel till we return. The Wild Coast (Transkei) is up first with the rest of S.A. coast line after that. The reason for doing it this way around is, firstly, we need to get into the whole camping thing and test out the trailer and equipment while still on S.A. soil. Secondly, it is best to travel up Africa during the winter months to help prevent the risk of Malaria. We will be calling a Desert Wolf - Lynx, home for the next 5 months or so. Desert Wolf? It is an off-road trailer with a RTT (roof top tent). The Lynx allows us to be completely self sufficient when we need to with water, geyser, gas burners, fully equipped kitchen, shower and dress room etc. Next we will do Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Malawi, Mozambique and back to Salt Rock.

And so it begins......On the 20th of April we will start our African Safari. Hoping to be back in October/November. During our trip we will be celebrating our 25 wedding anniversary! Hopefully somewhere in Namibia. Starting off in Salt Rock Campsite, right next to the beach, we will be saying goodbye to the kids. Tomas, Luke and Carla. We are planning on kidnapping our granddaughters Madison and Layla, so no need to say good bye to them. Zulu, our 3 year old daxi will be left at a kennel in Ballito as his poor little body will not manage the cold in the North West Province. Will be back to pick him up and to greet the kids once we completed the trip. With 3 weeks to go, the excitement is building and even though we still have a number of things to do, it seems to drag out everyday. The Wild Coast is up first. We will be posting on a daily basis where we have internet connection. Please join us on our travels and feel free to give advice and leave comments. Till next entry...
