About this blog

Another year and another great trip is planned. This year we're off to Alaska, the Last Frontier. We're really looking forward to the Land of the Midnight Sun! This year's adventure begins by flying to Vancouver on July 4th. We'll spend a couple of days there before boarding a cruise ship for a seven day voyage north to Alaska! In addition to stopping in the ports of Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway, we'll also cruise Glacier Bay National Park and College Fjord. Activities along the way include whale watching, a Salmon bake, a train ride to The Yukon, Mendenhall Glacier, a Lumberjack Show, the Mount Roberts Tram and Totem Bight State Park.

Once on dry land, we begin exploring Alaska on our own. With rental van in hand, our first stop will be Denali National Park where we'll tour the park and look for wildlife. After a couple of days in Denali, it's off to the Kenai Peninsula. While staying in Cooper Landing, our plan is to take a cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park, experiencing its glaciers and wildlife. We'll also vist the towns of Seward and Moose Pass.

As if this weren't enough, from Cooper Landing, we travel back to Anchorage to catch a plane to King Salmon where we will meet a float plane that will fly us to Brooks Lodge in Katmai National Park. We'll commute between Katmai and King Salmon for two days of bear viewing at the world famous Brooks Falls. We will be entertained by the bears fishing for Salmon at the falls, watching for bear cubs and generally enjoying being in such a remote place.

It's the trip of a lifetime and we are really looking forward to it!
