We've made it to China! ...and we've armed ourselves with 3 DVD's, 5 books, a score of maps, and some language software. We are prepared. That was we were prepared until our first contact with Chinese airport security. In a foreboding sense of confusion that would become all to common in the following weeks, my bag was scanned and grabbed and I was motioned away to a quiet area and pointed to a seat. The guard offered me a smoke and dissapeared for 10 minutes. I preped for interrogation. 15 minutes later I realize he just wants to hang out with the strange foreigner.

Our plan: teach English, travel a bit, learn some Mandarin, and find a friend or two on the way. We start with a 3 month contract and see where things go from there.
