According to my Eyewitness Travelguide "Sicilians say that Sicily has the most beautiful sky in the world" and that "it enjoys more than 2000 hours of sunshine per year, more than any other part of Europe". We went in December and the weather was brilliant most of the time with lots of sunshine and a crisp blue sky. Take a look at my favourite pictures and you will hopefully agree... I loved the beaches, the coffee lattes, the general geology of the island and the Greek and Norman architecture that we have come across. On the downside... Palermo is a bit of a minefield with a serious amount of dog poo scattered across its streets and crossing the street is not as easy as it may look like...
