About this blog

In 2005 we backpacked from Mexico to Panama (via Cuba) and after 8 months an injured knee drove us home. In 2006 the intended trip was from Venezuela to the Antarctic and this time illness sent us back to Australia after 5 months. We still have not seen the Amazon or Patagonia so February 6th 2007 will see us on a flight to Colombia to "do" the rest of South America. At least now our children and grandchildren have given up worrying about us. Highlights of our previous trips were Cuba under Castro, partying in Mexico City, staying with a Mayan family, scarlet macaws, turtles laying eggs, watching a volcano throwing out red hot lava (in Guatemala), the Panama Canal, cruising the Galapagos, climbing to 4700 meters and condor watching.
