During a recent chat with my Swedish buddy Peter, we realized that we both had a desire to visit Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). This will be the 70th country that I visit in my life.

During the ten years that I have lived in Bangkok, I've been waiting for Myanmar to become free in order to go there. But it doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon. Given that - and the fact that I'm not getting any younger, I decided it was time for me to finally visit this neighboring country of Thailand.
Given that information about the preparation for this trip might be useful for others planning to visit Myanmar, I decided to document that aspect of the trip more fully as well.
