Rocky Point, New York: A Weekend Threatened by the St. Patrick's Day Parade

M family has a vacation home in Rocky Point, out on the North Shore of Long Island. While I have gone often ever since I was younger, this was a very unexpected, and short, trip. My cousin Cari and I spent a lot of time shopping, eating, and just hanging out.
This trip was also very rushed. The St. Patrick's Day parade was the Sunday of our weekend getaway, and the whole town would be shut down for the parade. We wanted to be on our way home before that happened, meaning we had to leave by 11:30 on Sunday morning. That gave us only Saturday to relax and get everything done.
While the trip was short, it accomplished what we had hoped - we went shopping, ate at a great restaurant, and spent the night just lounging around the house!
