This year I was determined to have a more interesting visit to the Middle East compared to last year. I also wanted to have some different experiences in Asia as well. In particular, I thought interacting with some of the distinct animals in this part of the world would help me to not miss my doggies so much.

Once again I applied to visit Iran although the prospects for successfully receiving a visa did not look too positive. So as an alternative to Iran, I planned a visit to Northern Iraq. After a little research I learned the situation in Iraqi Kurdistan was quite stable and so I made plans to visit this interesting part of the world. And I am so glad I did just that!
