About this blog

Marcia and I are heading off for a National Geographic expedition to the Norwegian sector of the Arctic Circle.

A barometer takes stock of the state of the atmosphere and can help predict weather trouble ahead.

Here in the Svalbard region of the Barents Sea, the pace of melting of the ice sheets and glaciers give us clues as to whether we are in for a 1 foot or a 20 foot sea level rise.

The answer to that question will inform the cost-benefit equation of investing in new energy technologies in order to transition to a mostly fossil free energy world.
