15 years of delivering humanitarian aid to the Akha of Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, China. Now the Akha Heritage Foundation.
About this blog
What started out as a chance trip to the Maesai border between Thailand and Myanmar ended up being a lifetime trip into the world of the Akha where we investigate humanitarian situations and causes and deliver aid to the Akha people. From 1991 to 2005 and beyond, now an Akha American family of 7 and counting. When we travel we can "see" with conscience or it can all be about OUR experience. For us, that means finding out what the problem, how to fix it, how to get those causing it to change what they are doing, particularly when it comes to events that increase the infant mortality in Akha villages like the US Drug War. In Laos malaria and lack of mosquito nets is a severe problem. Solid documentation at http://www.akha.org
