Chris Dunphy and Cherie Ve Ard’s nomadic lifestyle

March 22, 2010

This is no ordinary couple.

Chris Dunphy and Cherie Ve Ard are two gen-X geeks who are digital nomads synthesizing technology in with their full-time RV traveling.

They’ve been on the road for almost three years and they don’t show any signs of stopping.

“Our journey is not one of sabbatical or retirement,” Cherie says.

“We aim to create a sustainable lifestyle of balance between work, life, reduced environmental footprint, community, family, amazing experiences and wanderlust: one that lasts until it no longer feels right.”

One of their popular posts include a plain English definition of various modern nomadic terms like “Technomad” and “Lifestyle designer”.

I especially enjoyed their Serendipity Challenge.

A call to all their readers to take a breather, and look around at the world around them without worrying about the next deadline.

Greg Seiter loves Indiana and Disney World

March 22, 2010

He represents the AAA Hoosier Motor Club to the local media in Indiana, and in his spare time, he writes about travel for AAA’s blog, Travel Views.

Greg Seiter

Greg Seiter

By day, Greg Seiter talks about gasoline and other car-related topics with local media representatives throughout Indiana.

By night, the father of two passionately commits himself to family, friends, food and the power of the pen.

Greg is a self-proclaimed writing enthusiast with an undeniable love for Disney, the state of Indiana and Cajun food.

In addition to his work on the Travel Views blog, Greg has written for a variety of local and national publications, including newspapers and magazines such as AAA’s Home & Away, SOUTH and numerous NCAA Championships programs.

Andreas Susana explores Austria

March 20, 2010

This bilingual blogger writes in both German and English and he is based in Austria.

I found a bunch of interesting posts about the Silent Night museum in Hallein and the Armoury of Graz.

Andreas

Mostly, his site is in German, but there is also a helpful list of traveling families on Twitter.

It’s also worthwhile to gaze at some of Andreas’ photography from around Europe and Austria.

Explore the Planet D with Dave Bouskill and Debra Corbeil

March 19, 2010

The world is one big adventure playground for Dave Bouskill and Debra Corbeil and they’re out there experiencing everything it has to offer.

They want to prove to other would be travelers that you don’t have to be a professional athlete, expert mountaineer or a superhuman ironman to be an adventurer.

Dave Bouskill and Debra Corbeil

Dave Bouskill and Debra Corbeil

Their aim is to tell the truth about travel, including the good, the bad and the unexpected.

So they created the blog, The Planet D.

Dave and Deb share every detail of their adventures around the world, even if it is embarrassing at times.

Check out their strange tale about riding camels in the desert near Rajasthan.

If that’s not strange and embarrassing, I don’t know what is.

Follow them along on their journeys and find many more entertaining tales of mischief and adventure.

Mike and Luci Willits fight around the world

March 19, 2010

They met in the third grade, fought for the first time in the sixth, and they haven’t stopped yet.

Mike and Luci Willits fight everywhere they go, apparently.

Mike and Luci Willits

“Despite the fights, the truth is travel is really great for your relationship,” Mike says.

“And unfortunately, too many couples don’t take the time to say ‘time out’ and go.”

They travel on the cheap, and they learned to do it this way by giving themselves $100 for each year of marriage, every time they go somewhere new.

“We fully take advantage of frequent flier programs, hotel rewards and frankly, curbing our lifestyle to afford a trip that will stay with us forever,” Mike continues.

Even though they have kids at home, and practice a yearly summer family vacation, the Willits continue their yearly getaway.

The truth is, couples need time away from the kids.

A parents-only trip will allow mom and dad to spend time discussing or arguing about where to go, what to see and what to spend.

On top of that, they’ll come back with memories that can’t be replaced.

Perhaps something like this fight documented on their blog post, Creme brulee for one.

It’s a hilarious account of Luci getting stranded at the Louvre while Mike goes out for dinner alone.

Subu PS has a passion for road trips

March 18, 2010

The man certainly has a passion for road trips.

Whether they are on a motorcycle or on the four wheeled variety, Subu PS works hard to bring his own style of travel to his readers.

Subu

Subu PS

Born and raised in Kerala, India, his blog has a flavour and style all his own.

“I do keep aside my weekends for short trips near to my place of stay and I love driving and riding,” Subu says.

“I am also an avid photo clicker, thanks to digital camera technology my photos come out well even though I am kind of an amateur.”

His travel blog contains detailed descriptions of places he has visited on his motorcycle, like his trip to Pozhikkara beach and the Neyyar Dam.

“I do make it a point to include places which are quite unfamiliar but beautiful for those who love the company of nature,” Subu continues.

“Just visit my blog and see for yourself.”

Nick Hix goes on a walkabout

March 18, 2010

It’s probably the simplest designed travel blog I’ve seen in a while.

Just an MSN Spaces account with stories about his two years of life on the road.

Nick Hix

Nick Hix

“12 years of working in the UK had taken it’s toll,” Nick Hix says.

“Stressed, bored, helplessly confused about what to do with my life, I decided to put some excitement back into my soul.”

The plan was simple, he took two years to go and see as many countries in Asia as he could, meet as many new people as possible, and soak up new cultures on the way.

And he came back with some crazy stories and amazing photos.

He’d been hanging with hookers in Saigon, and diving in Thailand, among all kinds of other adventures.

It’s pretty wordy, but it’s definitely worth reading through it to check out all the cool stuff he’s done.

Dani Klein’s kosher travel tips

March 18, 2010

Jewish travelers don’t have it easy when it comes to food on the road.

Possibly the only blog where you can find information on eating kosher abroad is YeahThatsKosher.com

Dani Klein

Dani Klein

“I started the blog back in 2008 after a few trips,” says Dani Klein.

“As someone who only eats kosher food, knowing where to find kosher food takes lots of research without the help of a resource such as YeahThatsKosher.com.”

Many kosher and even non kosher observant people use Dani’s site to gather pre-trip research.

It has become a go-to site within the Jewish community, and while it is a very nichey blog, it is a great addition to the travel blogging world.

Rich Cook, CEO of The Lunatic Ltd.

March 16, 2010

He says The Lunatic Ltd is not just another travel blog.

Rich Cook says that his new explorer’s blog will be a place for stories of adventures through the cultures, histories, landscapes and philosophies of the world.

Rich Cook

Rich Cook

“Like any good explorer, I keep a Daily Log of my day-to-day struggles and triumphs,” he says.

“On journey’s end, I report the details in the Trip Reports. I detail the richness of place through the Destination Reports and the photo galleries.”

Rich has pretty thorough knowledge about Dubai, having just come back from a trip there.

He’s just getting started so keep track of his whereabouts and follow him along on his journey, it should get pretty entertaining.
