Although the blog has a South American leaning, its scope is worldwide.

Carolyn Lane’s Dog Meets World

March 26, 2010

What a cool idea to bring people people from around the world (especially kids) closer together.

Carolyn Lane has an ambassador toy dog named “Foto” and a portable printer.

She brings it around the world on her travels teaches kids photography tricks and prints out photos for them to keep.

“We aim to put a photo directly in the hands of every child in need in the world, often for the first time,” Carolyn says.

“No longer just take pictures when traveling, practice take & give Photography.”

She’s looking for people to donate directly to her cause, or join the community of volunteer “phodographers” to share in the excitement as a photo diplomat.

A “phodographer” helps bring a little bit of happiness to underprivileged children with this simple act of giving them a personal photograph.

Carolyn’s goal is to empower travelers to make real connections to people in other cultures.

In other words, they become photo-diplomats.

“A picture makes anybody a ‘somebody’,” she says. “Dog Meets World clothes people in affirmation and feeds their souls, which indeed is priceless.”

It facilitates the empowerment of the youth of developing nations, while it teaches the developed world the power a photograph holds and creates an understanding that all people deserve recognition and self-affirmation through the power of photography.

Nate Lovett’s travels to the wonders of the world

March 25, 2010

He likes to remain anonymous, and calls himself a “keep to myself kind of person”.

The nature of the blog, however is to share, but Nate Lovett is poised to start doing plenty of that.

Nate Lovett

“I built TheTraveller.me in order to document my travels to countries far and wide,” he says.

“The main purpose is to document my endeavours to visit all seven (eight if you count the honorary member) new wonders of the world.”

Nate’s just getting started, but his video section contains a revealing glimpse of the Inca Trail.

His adventure to catch a glimpse of the Nazca lines and his journey to Cuzco is a great start.

I can’t wait to see what else he cooks up in the future.

Katie Alley gets transplanted to Argentina

March 25, 2010

Her email signature says, “We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.”

It’s an inspiring quote that must ring true to the woman who fell in love with an Argentine, packed up her life and moved from the suburbs of Philadelphia to the seaside city of Necochea, Argentina.

Three years later, her blog Seashells & Sunflowers still chronicles the joys, difficulties and frustrations of leaving behind everything to move a world away.

“I share my musings and reflections on Argentine culture and current events from an expat perspective,” Katie says.

She frequently incorporates two of her passions: cooking and photography, into her blog.

Katie translates Argentine recipes into English making them more accessible to a wider audience.

In addition to this, she just completed Project 365, a year-long photography project to document her first year living in Argentina.

Erica Firpo loves Rome

March 24, 2010

Flying back and forth between Rome and America as a child, Erica Firpo fell in love with Rome, and now she lives there permanently.

Don’t get me wrong, she’s not a spoiled Euro-brat, she’s a down-to-earth and potentially in your face Phillly girl, who can kick butt and paint her nails at the same time.

Erica Firpo

Erica Firpo

“My blog is not the typical ex-pat rant,” she says.

“I am not an ex-pat, I am half-Italian, half-American, coming to Rome all of my life, which means I incessantly wander the side streets with the notion of discover and an urge to share.”

Erica’s blog iis not written as a rant but a personal love letter to a city.

She always tries to include information about Rome that might not be visible to the non-Italian living or visiting the city.

Erica includes horrible breakups and suggest a great aesthetician

Bikini waxes and breakups go hand in hand, apparently.

She writes about cardboard towels that have been lined dried, markets, motorscooters, miniskirts and men.
