Dominique King is an experienced magazine and newspaper journalist.
In recent years, she saw her opportunities in the print media world dwindling.
As she prepared to change careers she thought long and hard about what she really wanted to do with her life.
“The Midwest is an amazingly diverse and interesting region for travelers, but most travel literature seems to overlook this portion of the country in favor of seemingly more exotic, expensive and extreme locations on the east or west coasts–or in far-flung foreign destinations,” she says.
“I thought the scarcity of stories about the Midwest indicated a niche that needed filling.”
She delves into many states in the area, especially Michigan.
I especially enjoyed her guided stroll on downtown Manistee’s Riverwalk.
She’s also got all kinds of info about Chicago, including a recommendation for world famous deep dish pizza and a tour of the Oscar Mayer weinermobile.
