A quick(ish) 3 hour drive from LA and we arrived at San Diego. We went up Mount Segundo to get a good view of the city! it was amazing! you could see the whole city in all directions, Scott explained that San Deigo was originally occupied by the Spanish closely followed by Mexicans and you could really see the influence
. In fact so far California is a lot more like spain than england, which surprised me a little. After we soaked up the incredible views we set off to Mission Bay to spend the day soaking up the sun and relaxing. It was hotter than i expected and i got a little sunburnt...no i didn't wear suncream (sorry mum) so yes it is my own fault, but i did go a nice colour! After the beach we freshened up at our hostel Lucky D's, which is quite basic but clean and accommodating. The Internets free, which is a plus, as is breakfast and coffee so I'm happy! We all went out for a Mexican which was nice but again portions are huge! I think its the first time I haven't finished my plate! The girls got cocktails which you could practically swim in! We were all pretty tired after so we hit the sack ready for another early start the next day...
Thursday 13th May
I can't believe its only Thursday, it feels like I have done so much! We went to sea world today which was incredible but quite expensive, I'd pay it all over again though as they have some amazing creatures and its huge! We saw the Shamu show which was fantastic and got soaked on the rapids, i would have been dryer if i had taken a bath in my clothes! They even had an "Arctic" which was really cold and had polar bears and emperor penguins! Again it was quite hot today and i burnt my scalp ouch! but i did wear sunscreen today! Back at the hostel we got a free dinner, pasta garlic bread and salad all you can eat which was really good and saved a few dollars! Tomorrow we have a 6hour drive ahead of us to Lake Havesu but there's the promise of a BBQ at the end :)
I"ll update when I can
Lots of love xx
Trek met at 7:30am, which was good because I'm still on English time plus i was really excited so i woke up super early anyway! Our group is 12 girls, no guys! no joke! apart from our trek leader Scott, who is really sweet in a geeky way! (sorry if you ever read this scott) everyone seems really nice and i instantly clicked with a few of the girls, dani, beks, steph and lucy, we have got a little group going already, which is nice as we were all speaking on facebook leading up to the trek. Scott ran through the basic trek stuff blah blah and then our itinerary for the next 2 weeks all i will say is OMG and watch this space! Then we were off to our first stop.......
