We went to Point Lobos State Reserve, not knowing much, except that there are plenty of sea lions in residence. However, we found out at the park entrance that sea otters are also in residence! So it became our mission to spot some sea otters.

We walked the Sea Lion trail, the trail at Whaler's Cove, the Cypress Grove trail and started the Bird Island Trail, without any luck. Shucks! I guess it would have been too difficult to see anything with the naked eye, and we didn’t have any binoculars.

I would have been interested in diving at Whaler’s Cove. I am sure there will be quite alot to see, and there have been hundreds of leopard sharks spotted there. And perhaps we would have been able to get further out to check out the sea otters, and perhaps even whales!
