After an uneventful final day in Kiev, i gave up my search for a Ukrainian bandura.  Heading to the airport was a wonderful treat as the traffic congestion made me check my watch every fifteen minutes. Once arriving at the airport, i realized the fun was just getting started.
I stood in line for my boarding pass to Tashkent.  The Uzbeks all around me are pointing to my bag asking why i only have one, and trying to convince me to take some of their bags as my own so they can fit more on.  Next to me an older Ukrainian man tosses me a roll of duct tape and points to my bag, then points to his, which is sealed tight with duct tape.  I look around at everyone else's  bags, all of which are also sealed tight with tape.  "When in Rome..." I think to myself as I tape up my bag.  Upon getting to the counter the Lufthansa attendant checks my passport twice then looks up at me for what felt like 10 seconds before asking, "You are going to Tashkent?"
"Yes" I promptly reply
"Are you sure you want to go to Tashkent?"
After a brief pause I reply, ".....please don't say that...."
And with that I was handed my boarding pass and began the harrowing hour and a half of boarder control and customs.  As i finally pass through the last check, feeling like maybe i should have gone to Moldova instead, i turn the corner to hear from the coffee shop the voice of Whitney Huston, "and iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, will always love youuuuuuuuuu"
and suddenly....i fell like everything is going to be okay, at least till the Tashkent boarder control that is.....
