Today we enjoyed the scenic sites as we drove down the western coast of the Lake Tahoe to South Lake Tahoe, where we took the Heavenly Gondola 2 1/2 miles up to the observation deck. Located at approx. 9200 ft elevation, it offers views of the whole Lake Tahoe. Then, we boarded the gondola again, and then continued to the top of the mountain. There we had an overpriced lunch (it felt that way since we expected a lunch on a deck with views - instead, the patio is poorly situated for dining experience, with views of the gondola wheels, and rock climbing area). After we were stuffed, we opted for the shortest of the hikes - 1.6 miles to the vista points. Being out of shape, high altitude, and intense heat made it difficult to climb, but we made it to the top. I will upload the some of the photos shortly, and you will be able to see the views of Carson Valley, and Lake Tahoe. Upon descending down to the Heavenly Village, (don't park at the garage at the Village, use the Casino parking instead since it is quite a bit cheaper), we decided to drive up to Carson City in attempt to find the wedding chapel where we got married 15 years ago. After driving around for a while, we were unable to find it. The phone book did not have it listed, and a gas station owner said it was leveled few years ago. Doing a search online yielded no results either. On the way back to Tahoe Vista, we stopped at Costo outside Carson City for the cheapest gas we've seen in a while ($2.93. Now we are back to the hotel, sitting by the pool, sipping a cold Sam Adams, while kids enjoy the pool and the hot tub. When we get back to the room, I will upload some photos...
