So, if there's OM-shaped island, isn't it only fair that an OM-shaped beach should also exist? At least it is supposed to look like an OM, a very curved and elegant one, just like in the Kannada writing style. Quite a rewarding sight after an hour of crossing 2 cliffs and one beach (Kudle) under the scorching sun because we had decided against paying to the overpriced (as always) rickshaws.
Besides it's alleged shape, OM beach is a what Goa (probably) used to be once. There are about 7 guesthouses/restaurants situated sparsely along the beach stretch (which is shorter than Palolem, but longer than all the other beaches around Gokarna), and no activities at all. The guesthouses and restaurants are also not as stylish and expensive as in Palolem, and although the western food is decent, it's quite common to settle on a simple Thali for meal. Just relax on the beach or in a restaurant all day. I just got a hammock and spent most of the day reading, sitting around with people (many nice people around here) and sometimes going for a swim.
The only day we really did anything was when we were going in a large group to see the other two and a half beaches beyond OM beach (Half-Moon, Paradise and Half-Paradise). All-in-all, it was more or less another week of relaxation, before a hectic sight-seeing journey south we've been planning (in the sense of intending to do more than in the sense of making actual concrete plans).
As a footnote, I should add that the paradise of OM beach may not last very long. There's a beach resort construction in progress, and it may ruin some of the intimate and quiet atmosphere of the beach. Due to its size and remoteness, it will probably never be as crowded as the major Goa beaches, but the atmosphere will probably change a great deal.
