Today we drove up the coast to catch the TranzAlpine train to Christchurch. We stopped at the Franz Josef Glacier and hiked up to the viewpoint. The glacier is over 11 kilometers long and it moves very fast, though it used to be much bigger. When I get older I may come back and try to climb up it. New Zealand has lots of glaciers.

The train went through the Southern Alps and crossed them at Arthurs Pass. We went past lots of mountain sheep stations, waterfalls, rivers, and mountains. It was a pretty bumpy but a nice ride.

Now we are in Christchurch and ready for some Kia (Maori for food)!
