Finally, we are back to civilization!!! It was fun being in the Outback, but after Uluru I am ready to be in a city again. We flew to Sydney today and are having dinner with a South African friend of my mom, Rosemary, tonight before we fly to Lord Howe Island tomorrow. Last night we had dinner out in the desert. We listened to someone playing the didgeridoo, which is a long instrument that the Aboriginals play. It sounds weird, like someone moaning or maybe a fog horn. After dinner, someone explained all the stars to us and even though it was cloudy, we could still see the Southern Cross and Orion's Belt. Strangely, the flies go away after sunset so even though we were outside, it was okay.
But I am very glad to be back in Sydney - we are staying at a hotel right on the wharf that used to be a warehouse for shipping wool. It is very cool and I am going to go swimming in the pool now!
Bye!
