Where I stayed
Today, we drove four hours to Tswalu, a game reserve in the Kalahari Desert. I was very excited to come here, because we were here last year with my grandparents and had a great time. On the way, we saw a dead bat eared fox, and a meerkat crossed our path while we were driving. It is mostly dirt road to get to Tswalu, and we only passed one car the whole time. It is far from everything. It is also very hot and dry, since it is the desert and it is summer.
When we arrived, I was very happy to find out that Jason was going to be our ranger
But, back to the parabuthus granulatus. These are the most dangerous scorpions in the Kalahari. If they bite you, it is fatal usually. I do NOT want to see one. Jason has seen a few of them. You can tell if it is one because the tail is thick and does not have any hair and it is black. I am going to make sure I shake out my shoes and clothes while we are here. Jason showed me one in the rangers room and it was really freaky looking! One of the ladies who works here found two outside her door two nights ago! And one on Christmas Day!
Tomorrow we are going to wake up early to go find lions. I am very glad to be here, even though I am sad to say goodbye to Winston, my new friend, and to Cape Town.
