This morning we flew from Varanasi to Khajuraho, which is in the middle of India. We had a woman pilot, which was cool. This afternoon, we went to some ancient temples, that were built over a 1000 years ago. They were very beautiful, with lots of interesting carvings of elephants, lions, battle scenes, ladies dancing, putting on makeup, and posing. Lu especially liked the elephants and lions. I liked running around after being in a city for the last couple of days. We saw lots of girls coming home from school riding bikes and kids playing outside - it is a small town and the air feels very nice.

Tonight, we watched a puppet show at dinner. I did not know that puppet shows are so common in India, but Lu and I really like them. Dad surprised us and after the puppet guy showed us how to use the puppets and play the cricket (a musical instrument you put in your mouth), he got me a guy with a sword and a cobra, and Lu a guy on a horse. We will send them back to the States and then have puppet shows when we get back next year.

It was also very exciting because we were watching CNN before bed and we saw Jennifer Rogers, James Carlock's mom, on TV! She was reporting about Wall Street - it almost felt like she was here!

Tomorrow we are going to see tigers - I can't wait!!!

Hey Zola and Lu, and parents too!

I'm amazed each time I open your wonderful blog. You guys are really traveling all over the place. It must be fascinating.

I must admit, I'm a completely green with envy. I travel from my dorm room to the dining room to the library, and that's pretty much it these days! If I weren't writing my thesis, I would have been tempted to skip school and join you.

Last weekend, I had a little bit of an adventure when I took the Amtrak train to NYC for the weekend. I walked past west 72nd street many times and thought of all the fun I had with you there in 2002.

And next week I'll have another mini-adventure when I fly to Chicago with Joel to visit his family for Thanksgiving. I always think of the Baird family over Thanksgiving, because the first American Thanksgiving I ever experienced was with you in Vermont and New Hampshire. I'll miss all the fun we had with the shaving-cream-pie shenanigans. Hmmm, maybe I'll introduce that tradition to the Pollak family this year....

I hope that somewhere between the curry and the mopani worms you will be able to get some turkey and pumpkin pie to eat and that you'll know we're thinking of you all the way back here in the freeeezing northern states.

I wish you safe travels and lots of fun. Love to all of you,
