I was the first one to wake up this morning, and the first thing I saw out our window was tons of hot air balloons flying everywhere! I woke everyone up to see it - it was amazing!

This morning after school, Dad and I got Turkish haircuts. The barber was wearing a red hat with a tassel on it. He was very nice and I got to sit in a barber chair right on the terrace looking at the view and the cave houses and fairy towers of Cappadochia. It was the best haircut I ever had!

Then Levent took us to the Rose Valley, which is called that because the rocks are all rose colored. Other rocks were white or beige or tan. It was like walking in the desert except there were rocks that looked like cones upside down and others that had holes in them and doors. People still live in some of them, and people lived in all of them until the 1950s when Turkey made the Greek people leave Me getting a Turkish haircut

. People have lived in these rock houses since before Jesus was born. They say that lots of things that happened in the Bible happened here. One rock house we climbed into was a church and Levent says that there are over 2000 churches in caves like this all over Cappadochia. We stopped for tea and I saw a green lizard.

At lunch, we had Turkish ravioli (not like the ravioli at home, but still pretty good) and meze (little plates of food) and a stew cooked in a pot, that the waiter cut off with a huge knife. That was cool! Then we went to the Gorme Open Air museum, where we saw lots more churches in caves. It was so much fun to climb on the rocks and explore them. And we had Turkish ice cream, which is really strange but delicious. The guy twirls it on a stick like a pizza, then puts it on the cone. He was really funny.

Tonight we are watching the sun set over the cave houses and trying to find my sister's panties, which the dog who lives at the hotel stole from our room!
