Yesterday we flew from Barcelona to Tarifa, Spain. Tarifa is the closest city in Spain to Africa. We can see Africa from the beach. It is funny, because in two days we are going there (to Tangier) and it is only a 35 minute ride on the ferry. We are staying right next to the ferry port. The town is very old and is surrounded with walls because it was a fort town that protected Spain from the Moors for many years. The streets are narrow and made of cobblestones. There is a cool statue to Sancho the Fourth, the Brave, with a lion. He saved the town from the Moors, but he also killed a lot of people trying to be king. We are staying in an old house that is now a hotel. Last night they had a concert downstairs right below our room - it was hard to sleep because it started at 10 at night and went on until about 3 in the morning, but it was good music.

The beaches are really nice here - the sand is very soft Tarifa to Tanger

. There are lots of surfers and windsurfers. We went to the beach today and Dad and I snorkeled and saw a huge fish. This is where the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean meet - two oceans like in Cape Town. It is called the Straights of Gibraltar. I am looking forward to going to North Africa, but think Spain rocks!

Top Three Best Things about Spain:

1. The food here is the best. I like their steak, calamari, pasta, gelato and hot chocolate. And the chocolate cake in Barcelona was awesome (but still not as good as Gramae Jane's)

2. Aqualand and Tibidabo - their amusement parks are fantastic.

3. The Mediterranean, because it is warm and has lots of cool fish, and because it is a great color.

Thing I would not do again in Spain:

Nothing...I liked it all!
