Where I stayed
Rudi and Christiane's beach house in Mallorca

Flag of Spain  ,
Friday, August 22, 2008

Now we are in Mallorca staying at the beach house of a work friend of my dad. Mallorca is an island off the coast of Spain. The house we are staying in is in the mountains looking at the harbour in Port de Soller. We have a pool and a great view. There are olive and lemon and orange trees right next to their house. And luckily, Tallulah learned how to swim this week, so she can swim with me in the pool. Dads friend, Rudi, and his wife, Christiane, get here on Friday and he is going to take us out in his boat. We will be here for over a week and I am looking forward to exploring the beaches and the island.

Best of all, I found out that there are Pokemon cards here! When we were looking for beach toys for my sister in the little village, I found some in a store! I hope I can go back there tomorrow and get some. (I will send you a pack, Matthew!) And the weird thing is, they are in English! (I wonder if Pokemon cards are in Japanese in Japan, where they were invented?)

Guess what? I snorkeled for the first time in my life today!!! It was even better than I dreamed it would be! I have snorkeled in pools before, but today we drove down the coast and found a little village called Valdemossa at the bottom of a huge mountain (there were seven switchbacks on the road down to the village.) At first I was nervous about the jellyfish (we saw lots of them swimming in the water), but after I while I forgot about them and just looked at all the coral, fish, and other things. I am going to take my new camera and take photos underwater of fish and coral and things.

Enjoy the journey.....
Dear Zola,
I am one of your moms good friends from Tennessee.
I have two kids. Claire and Charles. Have your mom tell you about them. I think your adventure is wonderful.
I am so glad you are writing this journal...keep it up.
The way you describe everything...makes me feel as if I
am there! Tell your family hello for me and if you are
ever bored (which I am sure you are not) I remember something my son did when he loved Pokemon. He would name as many as he could in alphabetical order. Try it sometime...
