Rudi and Christiane's beach house in Mallorca

Saturday, August 23, 2008

Rudi and Christiane arrived two days ago from Freiberg, Germany. Rudi worked with my dad and Christiane and he live in Germany, but they have a vacation house here in Mallorca. Rudi is really funny and nice - he loves to play tricks and he really makes me laugh. Christiane is very nice - they took me to the store to buy Pokemon cards on Saturday, which was great. Today, they took us out on their boat. We went super fast over the waves out of the harbor of Port de Soller and down the coast towards Valdemossa. The cliffs on the coast are huge and rocky - there are no sandy beaches but lots of cool caves and coves. At the Spanish Armada (Navy) museum here I learned that this was a hideout for pirates and bandits for a long time, until the town built its own ship to fight them off.

Rudi stopped at a cove where I got to do something super cool - ride a banana float behind the boat. Basically, a banana looks like a huge blown up banana, with two flotation devices on the sides On Rudi's boat
On Rudi's boat
. It is like water skiing on a giant banana. Dad and I rode together and we went 40 miles an hour, at least. We jumped the wake and only fell off once, when Rudi was trying to knock us off! Dad also waterskiied, then we snorkeled in a beautiful secret cove. We saw wild goats on the cliffs - I don't know how they did not fall in it is so steep. I like Rudi and Christiane and hope they meet us somewhere.

Rudi also introduced us to some of his friends who have two kids, Sophia and Julias. Julius is eleven and we played futball (that is European for soccer) on the beach last night after dinner. We are hopefully going to see them again tonight a big festival in Soller for the saint of fishermen.
