12:27 It was about 2 when I got to sleep. I was a bit paranoid about bed bugs as the room wasn't all that clean and some others had moved room due to that issue. Nonetheless I slept and woke at 9. I figured I'd get up and get going to the perhentian islands asap. Breakfast was apparently included in the room price and so I went off to look for it. No bread, no food, just tea, I asked the guy who was lazing about on the couch watching football if there was any food. He didn't seem to have a clue. I'm not sure what his role is there given that he said it was better to get a taxi to Kuala Besut dock and the taxi ended up being him- in a proper red and yellow taxi, so I've no idea what the score is. We went off in the taxi and it took at least an hour to get there, we arrived just after 11. They told me in the office that the boat would come at 11.30 and I should come 5 mins before. I did, and then I went got the dock as instructed and then I waited for over an hour for something to happen. I was put in one boat then put in another and eventually at 12.40 we tool off. In fact we took off about 100 times as the boat sped across the water. I have at least learnt to sit at the back ofthe boat!
13:51 See that incredible grump I was in just an hour ago? Well it has all been washed away by the beauty and silence of a paradisial island with crystal clear water, jungle and palm tree backdrop, a dorm for 20 ringit a night (4), a long white empty beach, absolute silence but for the lapping of water and lunch with a view of it all. I'm really quite happy.
Cold or not (well it's nearly gone) I'm going to investigate dive prices after lunch and see how many I can afford. I have spent under budget the last few months and what better way to enjoy the bit I saved than to go diving in what my bro in law says are some of the best waters anywhere.
I will enjoy this week of relaxation until I go and find Scott in KL next Saturday.
15:28 After a ricey lunch I went down the beach and enquired after diving. I have decided to do the Advanced course as it costs as much as I saved last month and I get a new certification that puts me one step closer to the final goal - divemaster and hopefully instructor - and 5 dives out of it including some different sorts of dives - navigation, deep water, a wreck, possibly a night dive if I can muster the braveness and something else. I start tomorrow at 9.

After a nice chat with the girls that worked there, I went over the hill to Long Beach, another glorious white sandy beach with blue waters that you can just wade miles out into without going much past your chest. The water was as warm as a bath, and I had to go quite far to find a cool bit to actually cool off in (I'm sure I've mentioned several times how hot it is?)
I read through some of my brick of a PADI book (lovely, something ELSE to carry) and enjoyed the view...happy days

Best: the relaxation
Worst: a grumpy morning
Beautiful: the question is what isn't beautiful here!

Hey Zoe, looks beautiful there. You lucky girl. Hope you don't get too shock when you come back to the cold at the end of the year! lol.
Can't believe we have both known the same person for years. Mandy Edwards was telling me she has known you for years. And I've known her for years, small world.
Have fun. Cal. X.
