I turned on my phone. Nothing, if Donnie had come today like he said then he would have text. Now we see him for the con man he is. It was never quite right and now that he hasn't come we are relieved for now we are back in control, not hanging on someone else's text or call. It's disappointing to be let down by people but me and David so enjoyed the trains and buses here we are happy to continue alone.
We had a good breakfast and chat and set off to the bus stop to get public buses to Borobudur.
12:18 The first public bus to the Jombor bus terminal took an hour and only cost 3,000, then the second bus from Jombor to Borobudur took an hour and a half and cost 20,000
12:29 On arrival there was the usual cacophony of people selling transport but it is only a short walk.
12:48 20,000 of you're local, 127,500 I you're foreign! But free tea and water!
14:07 Borobodur is quite an amazing place, every wall is covered in intricate carvings and every wall topped with statues of Buddha and bell shapes. There is so much to look at it's hard to take it all in. sadly the top stupa area is closed off for conservation but no matter, I could see well and it was interesting to see that all the mini stupas that look like bells all have a huge Buddha sitting in them.
I was also asked to pose in 3 peoples family photos! Everyone gets very giggly and excited it seems to have me in a photo! It's very sweet and quite amusing! Am I going to appear in peoples photos on their mantlepieces??!!
16:20 We got some local food for £1 and caught the bus back to Yogya
Shortly after we set off David had to get off the bus. The food we just ate gave him diarreah. I still haven't suffered from this in all the months I've been away incredibly. I stayed on the bus and I just hope he is able to get back to Yogya ok because we're very far away! Poor David.
18:27 I got back to town at 6 and went to a cafe with wifi for a drink to wait for David and upload some photos.
