13:46 Got my passport with visa! Only took 2 days and cost 250,000 not 300,000 that they charge in Bali, or 700,000 if you get a travel agent to do it! I heard a guy who lives here uses a service whereby your passport goes to singapore for. Stamp and then comes back for a new visa on arrival. I really don't know why it's so damn complicated to get an extension. There is no restriction on how many you have a year so you can easily fly to Singapore then straight back on the next flight and get a new stamp. Why not skip the flight and just appreciate that some people want to spend more than 30 days in a country without too much hassle. It's not like people are dying to stay here after all, like in England
15:52 After the immigration office we got the bus to Prambaran temple complex. It cost 110,000 (or $13) to get in, and it's free for locals. I think this is a huge price to pay for tourists. We noticed that if you buy a tour you pay 50,000 just to get there, however we took the public bus! The 1A goes all the way from near where we are staying, to the temple complex, all for 3,000, or 20p. Its brilliant! If you come to Yogya then definitely use the buses, and definitely travel the big distances by executive trains because they are comfy, people will bring you food and drink, there is air con, you have reclining seats with lots of leg room and you can travel great distances quickly in a lot of comfort for hardly any money.
We wandered through the Prambanan complex in the afternoon sun, the 2 main temples still have good carvings on them and haven't really fallen down or been too badly damaged since the last earthquake, although there is work going on as cracks and the like have appeared. The park is lovely and quiet and and we found a little cafe to sit in and enjoy the bell music being gently played over the speakers with the shadows falling through the trees.
20:00 Once we returned to the hotel around 6pm I lay down on the bed, just generally exhausted
At 8 we went for dinner across the road. I could probably have slept and not eaten at all but figured it would only serve to make me weaker. When we came back I watched a Disney film and fell asleep about 10.
Best: having David with me
Worst: worrying about what to do about Donnie
Beautiful: Prambaran temple complex
