10:46 It was 9am when I woke 12 hours after my head hit the pillow.
I opened the curtains and the view was, something. See photo. Why bother with a window at all!
Donnie had texted me in the middle of the night, and I asked him when he was going to come and rescue us from the horrible hotel. He sent a couple more texts not answering the question and then stopped answering altogether, which is rather infuriating because now we don't know when he's coming or anything.
We checked out and went for a walk, then I went to immigration by the airport on the 1A bus which only cost 3000, or 20p! In fact the bus system around Yogyakarta is very good and 3000 to go anywhere. Tourists don't seem to use it, but I highly recommend it, o also recommend the trains.

At immigration I had to buy some forms to fill in then left them with the office. They said I could pick them up tomorrow, I hope this is the case.
12:12 Still no word from Donnie.
14:19 Finally heard from Donnie, he missed his flight apparently because grant didn't wake up. I told him that he emailed me with this plan and he should have got on the plane without grant. He's still not replied so me and David don't think he's going to come, which is really annoying as we've rushed to get to Yogyakarta and I wanted to go up Ijen and see the bright blue sulphur lakes before going to Bromo an Yogyakarta, and now we are here and the plan Donnie made is screwed up. David now wants to go on separately, as in, me and him, without Donnie as he's so unreliable. I too see how it is easier travelling alone than relying on someone else. His plan included going to swim with dolphins at his friends pool and also going to a Linkin Park concert in Jakarta. Dad always says that if something is too good to be true then it normally is. This seems to be one of those times. Can you apply that to relationships though? I'm sure if you did, you'd always be alone. Mind you, my ex seemed to good to be true and then left, so yeah, maybe it also applies. Find someone who is already an idiot then you can't be let down.
15:32 We went to the palace only to discover I has closed, as everything seems to only be open between 8 and 2 at the latest. We wondered if this was a cunning ploy to make people go shopping in the free time. We tried to get the bus back and ended up on a bit of a long trip, and now we need to go and find somewhere cheap to stay down the many backstreet alleys. Preferably under 100,000 for the night, and clean! At least now we are not tired and I only need to get my rucksack when we've chosen a place. David has one small rucksack, but then he has only one pair of shorts, jeans he never wears, 4 t shirts and no underwear. It's nice to travel light but perhaps he needs another pair of shorts as really, one pair of shorts and no underwear? He never feels cold so I suggested he cut the legs off his jeans, but he doesn't want to. Ah well, he's the one with the tiny light bag for 2 months!
15:38 I find the people of Java very kind and friendly. Sure, some of them are trying to sell you things, but some of them aren't, take the ladies in the train, they kept offering me food, the poor old guy who just wanted a chat and shared what he did have, the people on the bus who overhear our confusion and offer to help point you in the right direction. You wouldn't find that in London, I hate the way people just ignore you in London, how they barge past without saying excuse me first, they won't offer help or talk to people, and if you smile then they look at you suspiciously. What could be more unfriendly than that.
16:35 Moved to Hotel Indonesia only 70,000, that's much more like the cost I was expecting.

Donnie finally got in touch and said he was coming on Saturday morning at 610. Funny because that was when his flight was meant to be this morning, and despite texting him all morning at 9 he never mentioned until the afternoon that he missed his flight.

The other thing he sprung on us was that he wanted 150,000 a day each for renting a car and driver, despite telling us before that we were using his car and I assumed he was driving as he lives here! And then he followed with a text saying by the way he normally charged his friends 500,000 a day for car, hotel, food etc! He failed to mention any of this a week ago when we met him. And anyway, he contacted us through couch surfing. Generally people using that site have no money to travel with which is why they are seeking a free couch! I questioned him about this especially given that we travelled all this way by train, cheaper, etc. And hiring a car could only be 150,000 a day in total for a decent car. But it's left me and David feeling suspicious and stressed once again. Ever since Donnie contacted us we've felt stressed and out of control because we spend all day waiting for him to call or reply, and we are fed up.
