08:56 And on the 4th day... The rain came. After not raining here for 3 days, the rain is pouring down this morning as I eat my breakfast. I heard the thunder rumbling for the last 2 hours in the distance, But now it is here. I'm going on a boat trip today and was going to get wet anyway. This place was only built in December so yesterday they were adding plastic sheets to pull down as the wind just blows the rain in.
13:08 It took half an hour to drive from my hostel to the boat which was by Victory Beach. There are so many new looking but incomplete hotels on the road. Apparently the Russians own stuff here, maybe some sort of tax haven. The boat is 3 stories tall, and I jumped off the top at our first stop. I'd say it was about as high as jumping off my balcony in my flat. I made sure to jump in as straight a possible, which still gave me a total wedgy as I plunged under the water. My right hand was occupied holding my nose tightly so was nicely tucked in. My left arm however, being the beast of burden and uselessness as I can't feel it properly decided to flail around on my descent and I ended up slapping the water. This hurt. Even through the lack of feeling, it hurt, and I had a dead arm! The palm of my hand went very red (it would have probably hurt a lot more if I could feel it properly!), so I decide not to do it again. I was a bit unsure about doing it in the first place but something inside said "what the hell, what's the worst that can happen" apparently a wedge and a sore hand. I guess belly flopping would probably cause a lot if damage but I'm not that stupid.

I did the jump after I'd been snorkelling, it wasn't too bad, but I've still not seen anything a good as Nha Trang yet. Lots of coral, none of it very bright; sea urchins; colourful fish. Same same. I took some photos and finished the film, so I'll see how they turn out next time I get to a town and can get them developed.
15:29 We've just left possibly one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. It was a completely deserted white sandy beach, with clear blue water. The water was so shallow I was at least 100m from the shore and still below chest height in water. I've taken some photos that will never do it justice!

We went for a walk up a river that was brown from a tea tree apparently. There was mangroves either side, and the sand underfoot was sometimes really slimy and orrible. When we came back another guy took us for a walk through a forest, again barefoot. I swam back to the boat which was good exercise and quite far.

On the boat ride on the way back we didn't fish (as was promised) so I feel that this is the most expensive boat trip I've been on and not great value for money to be honest. Much more expensive than Vietnam for a similar itinerary.
22:15 As we returned to dock, my driver was waiting for me and brought me back to Mushroom Point. I went to sit on the beach again, hoping for a sunset, which didn't come because it was too cloudy in the distance.
I had a mocha shake, read my book and watched the dusk settle upon the land and sea before going back to my dorm to shower and change. I had a chat with my mum then had chilli again and watched lord of the rings that they showed on the tv downstairs.

Today I have been mostly thinking about: My godson Jack who is 5 years old today, and having been to all his birthdays so far (I think! - or most of them!) I was sad not to be at this one, but I reckon he'll be having a lot of fun.
Best: the beach

Worst: I'll skip that today

Most beautiful: in fact one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen

Nurse Bloom on

Hello sweetie! (Am called nurse Bloom due to my dear husbands brave or rather stupid adventures on his mountain bike yesterday...) Anyway, What's with all this chilli con carne eating? I was most impressed with you eating Tom Yum - a great favourite of ours to cook/ Yes it always comes with tomatoes, but is like the only Asian recipe which does, so just ask for soup without them in. I am going to go through Ricks Steins Asian cook book and find lots of safe food for you to eat.

Keep reading guilty pleasures and keep smiling!

Love from the invalid and me!
