11:32 This morning i spent more time on the internet as I Uploaded pictures in preparation for wifi and adding words. I had a great long sleep. 12 hours i reckon. We had an early lunch at a restaurant across the road. There are actually about 6 restaurants outside the hotel, all next to and opposite each other, which seems a bit daft, as they all have people standing outside shouting at you to come in. We got some Kung po chicken and beef with green peppers. We got those the other day and thinking that they were green beans, because that's exactly what they looked like, I ate one. Then the burning sensation started as I realised these were not green beans. Yup, chillis. I don't each whole chillis, I quite like tasting my food! Lol!
16:08 Were on the train again, this is much more basic, it's still 6 berth, but anything that made it look like a cabin separate from the others was practically gone. This is a corridor with beds, and if someone wants to tickle your feet in the night, then they can! This is also the place where my jacket and bag become a pillow. This time we are all in groups together, so in our cabin it is me, Fiona, Harriet, Sarah, James and Rebecca. I have been in the same bed position ever since I started on the trans Siberian train - standing at the door, looking in the cabin, I'm on the bottom right bed. I'm starting to think that if I'm in any other bed I won't sleep and be disoriented!
There are no plug sockets on this train, there is the hot water cistern again, and we have hot water canisters so we can just pour hot water in the cabin. Currently there are 4 people sitting on my bed and susie on the corridor seat, and 3 on Fionas bed with Dave in the corridor. They're playing cards whilst I catch up with my writing.
The views from the train are limited. It has been raining today and it is very grey with low cloud, so everything looks bleak and uninspiring.
21:47 It has taken my until now to fully catch up on my writing. That's quite a lot of hours and my left thumb really aches now! Lol!
I'd kinda like to go to bed and just wind down but everyone is still sitting on my bed, and someone has spilt orange juice on the sheets.
The lights will go out at 10, and we'll all be compelled to sleep. A bit like boarding school, except at school we'd all mess about for at least half an hour before actually going to sleep. We're all too tired for that, so we'll all just go to sleep!

Best thing: sleeping, not walking and just relaxing a bit

Worst thing: my lips are feeling pretty dry and a bit sore

Beautiful?: nothing really stood out today

Andrew D on

Phew, just had a marathon session trying to catch up reading all your posts! Apart from certain instances (don't worry, HSBC forms will be posted as soon as they arrive!) it sounds like you've been having a fantastic time back in China! When do you get to hong kong??

Everything here is fine. The flat is the same as you left it. Myself and Alix are good, as are all the animals. My Alex is finally driving trains, and is 15 hours in to his required 250 hours driving time! We're planning to tie the knot shortly after he is qualified! :-)

We do miss you being around though! It certainly isn't the same here without you, but you're off and away having the absolute time of your life, which is both amazing and fantastic. Makes me quite jealous too!

Have you uploaded all your photos so far to your laptop back here? Let me know if there's any way I can view them all. Maybe I can burn them to DVD as well perhaps, as an added security?

Anywho, enough of my ramblings! Have fun, stay safe, and keep on documenting your experiences. x
