Hello all!
After travelling north from Cape Town to Calvinia, we traversed some rough terrain to get to the Augrabies Falls - the were spectacular. From there on to the Kalahari Transfrontier National Park...a huge tract of land that spans two countries - South Africa and Botswana. The park is set amidst the beautiful, stark desert foliage and populated by thousands of springbok, oryx, meerkats, and the elusive black-maned Kalahari lion. We stayed in the Park chalets - functional spacious suites that are most often used by self-catering types. The air con was much appreciated! Our time in the park was spent seeking out the flora and fauna that is indigenous to this area.
Our highlight was seeing a pride of lions lounging about a waterhole...actually, come to think of it, we appreciated the meerkats just as much. Cute little gaffers that stand look out in the desert and scurry about protecting their young.
Our next journey takes us west to the Fish River Canyon...
