Table Mountain and the Cape

On the way back to Capetown we stopped to see a colony of African penguins...uh...jackass penguins they used to be called
. I'm sure one of them lodged a complaint! They were very CUTE. We also saw Cape ostriches and the mountain hyrax (or dossie). I even spotted a lizard or two. That pretty much sums up the wildlife viewing for today . Our group is 9 in number and everyone seems to be great fun. Unfortunately, we won't be in the vicinity of an internet point for several days - we're in the bush, the desert and such. Wireless hotspots are few and far between! Look for another entry from Swakopmund in about a week.
We've truly enjoyed our time in Cape Town - I hope one day to return...Liza? She just chuckles...
Bye for now...
Today we had the pleasure of travelling to the top of table mountain in a very snazzy cable care. It revolved and went up - all without causing us nausea! The veiw from the top was fantastic - two oceans, Robben Island, all of Cape Town and the tip of Africa. From here we travelled to Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope. We hiked up to the top (well Liza went all the way to the lighthouse...not me...I went 2/3rds of the way up!!) of Cape Point and then hiked from Cape Point to Cape of Good Hope. The views were incredible and the sea breeze was refreshing. You can't get much further south on this continent and one can see why folks came and stayed. I'll refrain from any further comment on that matter at it would require me to know my colonial history way better and it was all bad and wrong anyway...
