Where I stayed
With the Chief

On the way back from the lake we stopped at the Sinazongwe Village to meet with the chief. Jamie somehow managed to get a tribal native to give us a tour of his village. The differences between Tribal life and life in Lusaka were vast. There was a certain simplicity to life there that was comforting.

After the tour (Pictures will be posted) we met with the Chief of the village. His "palace" as our eccentric tour guide named "Squeeze" called it was a big ugly blue building surrounded by smaller more traditionally built structures.

We sat with the chief and asked about the village (which had 54,000 people) and about his responsibilities as chief. The government in the village was surprisingly organized. We even had a traditional Zambian lunch with him; I kept my portions small.

It is interesting because although people of the tribe have poor access to many of the luxuries of city life, it seemed to be a much nicer place to live than the "slums" jamie had shown us a few days earlier. If I had to choose I would surely pick the tribe.
