We were dropped outside the Yekaterinburg station and after some confusion, figured out the system and found ourselves standing beside the red "Ural" train bound for Moscow. The train was more basic than the Baikal train, there was certainly no DVD, but it was comfortable enough. Importantly, our provodnista was a lovely lady so we knew the trip would be good. After dumping our gear in our cabin we bought supplies at a kiosk on the platform. The lady didn't speak a word of English, but was patient, helpful and friendly and so we left feeling great.
That evening as the train rolled through green countryside, we went to the dining car. The waitress couldn't speak any English and the menu was only in Russian. We ordered the fish which turned out to be fantastic and, to our surprise, included in the ticket. We returned to our cabin and watched the best scenery of the trip pass by, rolling hills, lush forests, rivers, dachas and pretty villages.
