Coast hung out at a kennel today while we drove up to Mesa Verde National Park to see more cliff dwelling ruins - 170 miles from the Canyon de Chelly cliff dwellings.  This area was occupied by the Ancestral Puebloans from AD 550 - 1300.  Then they moved out of the area, and no one seems to know quite why.  We think they must have finally realized it was difficult living in a cliff house that was very hard to access.  There are about 600 cliff dwelling ruins in Mesa Verde NP - some are viewable from overlooks on the opposite sides of the canyons.

Hi Bruce & Jan: Sunny here today, the daffodils are all ou in the driveway - so are the deer, three yesterday sitting in the rain. Can't tell if one is pregnant - but no fawns yet. the house looks fine. the cliff houses you saw are really interesting- it is said tht the people there spoke the same language as the People up North in Athabasca.

G'day Bruce and Jan! I can't see the fifth wheeler in the photos - are you camping? We've just ordered a new caravan for our future aussie travels. Beaut country you're seeing, brings back memories. Wish we could join you somewhere en route but even though the aussie $ keeps rising its unlikely at this stage.
Love Don & Roberta
