It was on May 31st, 2006 that Ed and I set off on this somewhat amorphic and endless adventure. Exactly one year ago. The anniversary kinda crept up on us, and we didn't realize it was one full year to the date until late in the night, when it was too late to plan a celebration or anything of the sort.
We have come a long way. Maybe not in miles but definitely in ground covered. We are surely a bit wiser than when we left, a bit tougher, a bit braver, a bit more tolerant, and certainly more open to accept the fate of things.
Our relationship, which is the most important and challenging endeavor of all, is still standing proud and strong, deeply rooted and enduring. This is what gives us the most satisfaction: knowing that we have done all these things and grown together.
So as we lay cuddled in bed reminiscing about how things were when we started traveling, we realized we didn't really need to celebrate our first year on the road: the whole year had been one hgue celebration...and we're going for more.
