Our two house guests, Alex and Sandra are great to have around. They are tidy and courteous, and very pleasant to be around. I came home from work yesterday and luckily, found them to be home, sitting in the terrace. I sat with them and we chatted until around midnight, having olive and chip snacks in between. Sandra gave me a Japanese peppermint healing oil which I was very curious about. She uses it for her migraines but she said it's very good for when one feels tired or stressed. I find it to be especially useful for the Majorcan heat, and just a few drops upon my forehead helped me keep cool for a few hours.
We talked about people, traveling, studying, meditating, relationships. They have been together for about 6 years and commented on how well they hit it off when they first met, and talked about the strange connection they seemed to have. For a young couple that have been together for that long, they still seem very much in love and happy with each other. They smile at each other as if it were the first time, and engage in small kissing-impulses when in company. They seem to get along harmoniously, very much like Ed and I, but I can only hope we get along as well as they do in 5 years.
Alex is more laid back and easy going, a very quietly observant guy, contemplating each word that one says. The kind of person that has gives you his undivided attention when you speak. A man of few words, but always the right words.
Sandra is more outgoing, very inquisitive and curious, and even though she struggles with her English, which is very good, she makes a great effort to communicate her ideas and thoughts with the highest of qualities. She seems to be a perfectionist in everything she puts herself through, and although she is 36 years old, she doesn't look a day over 29.
They left this morning headed to a monastery in the north of the island where they plan on staying a few nights. They plan on returning Friday for the big opening of The Cave and staying until Saturday night. Hopefully we can get some pictures with them before we part ways.
In the meantime I will be prepping for The Cave's grand opening. It's undergoing its last details, setting up the lighting, the last touches of paint, the drinks, the fridges, etc. It's looking great and I can't wait for the big opening on Friday. So many people are coming I don't know how I'm going to handle the huge bar on my own. Ed and Bernie have committed themselves to helping out and Miguel has also offered an extra hand so hopefully it won't be as insane as I think it will. Just by word of mouth alone, the place has enough publicity to ensure a successful opening. We'll see what happens on Friday.
