Hanging out with the guys....

These past few days I've been hanging out with Ross, a London Dj who came over to Porto Petro to help open up a new club called The Cave only one block from our flat. The club promises to be this Summer's hot spot as it will be the only nightclub with genuinely good music in the area, opened till 6 am. It's built inside an underground natural cave, rocks and all, where the acoustics are perfect for loud electro-house which won't bother the surrounding neighbors.
The last details are being put together for the Grand Opening and although I've had job offers from other restaurants, I'm saving myself for the future staff of the Cave, so we'll have to see what happens with that.
In the meantime, I'm hanging out with Ross who is not only a fun guy , but the kind of person who shows you who he really is within only the first 15 minutes of meeting him. There are no hidden agendas, no false, fakey demeanors, no separate personality he keeps secret from the world. What you see is what you get, and I love that about him. Ed, Ross and I have really clicked and we just feel really comfortable with each other, being able to enjoy silences when they present themselves or rant for hours about nothing and everything.
The three of us have even gotten in trouble for illegally using the Blau Hotel's swimming pool where we sneaked a few afternoons drinking sangria and taking underwater pictures which Ross was totally excited about....until the lifeguard called the management asking if three non-guests had been authorized to use the pool. Oopsies!
We've gone to the beach together for a quick afternoon swim to cool off from the intense heat which is beating down on Porto Petro these last few days. And at dusk we always meet up with Ed at Varadero to keep him company and take a few free beers while we're at it.
The other night Ross and I were having a few drinks at the Lounge when a group of the Hotel's staff came over to sit down. I was suddenly surrounded by Belgian, German, Portuguese, English, Argentine, and Spanish people, all speaking in different languages, all laughing together and creating an easy-going atmosphere I instantly felt comfortable in. I met Sergio, a 21 year old homesick Portuguese guy working an internship at the Hotel, whom I got to talking with about family and friends when you're far away from home. Even though he seemed sad, we ended up having a lovely conversation about how great it is to be living here in Porto Petro.
Tonight, there will be a private party held at The Cave, where only friends will be allowed in. And even though there are still no bathroom doors set up, the owner and Ross will set up some sort of temporary curtaining system for the toilets so that one may pee in privacy, just for the sake of a Friday night get together. Ross will be mixing some tracks which I'm really excited about hearing and the bring-your-own-drinks policy is bound to make the party a success. Ross showed me the lighting system he set up where red, orange, violet, blue, yellow and green lights shine on the rocky ceiling of the Cave creating a cool mystic party ambient.
In the meantime it's too bloody hot to even breathe or move, so I will be resting here until it's time to get my party gear on.
