Our first entry- isn't this exciting pets? as Australia's first lady, Dame Edna, would say. Today was a day of farewells, goodbyes, alvetezeins and bugger offs.
I began my day at 6am, leaving far north western New South Wales for a 3 hour drive and then the flight to Sydney to meet up with Joe. I had been staying in the wild west of Australia- Lightning Ridge- famous for as much for black opals as for the mad miners who spend their lives chasing a hint of red on black deep underground. It was a great way to start- as oz as it gets- steak for dinner, surrounded by bush, and locals that couldn't have been any more ocha if they tried.
That night we boarded a plane for Bangkok, theory had become reality, and it was just as nerve racking as my first overseas trip.
